YESS my new baby is here!! Born 15/07/2015 10:23pm weighing 2.9 kilos. I must of forgot the pain i had felt when i had Romeo because goodness me i was in so much pain but little did i know that the pain i was feeling just entering the hospital was basically the most pain i was going to feel since i ended up starting to push in the reception, no my water hadn't broke but i needed to push therefore i did. You must be thinking she had her baby in the reception? no no i didn't i got rushed into a room. Long story short i ended up giving birth just minutes after entering the room baring in mind there was no bed, i just knew i needed to push so the midwife made me kneel on the floor in front of the wheel chair i was on and said push. Did her water break what happened to the water well the midwife broke it for me while i was pushing once that water broke i felt some type of relief, can't explain it but i just did and just a a few pushes after i gave birth to my beautiful healthy little boy.
I may not have had the typical giving birth story but it'll be a good story to tell because everyone's story is different and unique which makes pregnancy so much more special to each person, we all feel differently and experience things in our own way that's just the beauty of life we just don't know whats going to happen.
But back to why i initially started this post was to tell you ladies who may not know what exactly to take or not want to take loads of unnecessary items. Personally the first time round i didn't know what to take i just took what i thought i should of taken but little did i know i was going to stay in hospital with Romeo but 4 days. Happy for me with Baby RJ i got discharged from hospital the next day.
I took photos of some of the things that i took in my hospital bag. I would say that for yourself you will have to take some comfortable extra clothes pjs if you like, towel, extra knickers because once you give birth to baby you don't know how many times you may need to change due to the bleeding which i would advise to buy some maternity pads, i got the boots maternity pads and disposable breast pads which both you'll need after giving birth not necessarily the breast pads but you never know, breast milk might be flowing out like crazy by day 2. At the hospital i was in given pads but remember not every hospital is the same. You'll need shower time stuff for baby and yourself of your choice, sudocrem if you choose to for baby, deodorant of course, clothes for the baby, nappies i personally buy pampers, baby wipes, blanket, nipple cream you may get sore nipples once you start to breastfeed, the lanolin nipple cream helps that. 6 pack starter pack of Aptamil if you are choosing to both breast feed and formula feed or just formula. For the first night i just breast fed to be fair but now on day two i have gave him some formula due to me not producing that much milk, some women are lucky with producing lots of milk, me i feel it takes more than a few days to have a leaky nipple from experience with Romeo but even after a few days it just wasn't enough to fill Romeo because their appetite does grow. The 6 pack starter pack is good to take to hospital they come with 6 little bottles filled with ready to feed Aptamil which is great, quick and easy. That's it girls that's all i took in my hospital bag. Down below i'll list the pricing on some of the things i brought.

Congrats on your new arrival. You must be over the moon, wishing you all the best with your two very beautiful boys you are blessed. I am due August 8th but would really love to know if you would recommend anything that helped to bring on labour?
ReplyDeleteThank you xxx
Thank you Hun ... Hopefully everything goes well with you 💙 ... I wouldn't say bring on labour but once I've started having pains with both times I drank milk with cinnamon & some sugar a cup full & then it hurried up the pains so I would recommend it
DeleteI just happened across your blog, congratulations on your new arrival!
ReplyDeleteJust thought I would mention that your milk doesn't usually come in till day 3-5, the first few days you produce colostrum, which is all baby needs, you don't need to use formula if you don't want to x

DeleteThank you :) ... Yeah I know that but personally last time I stayed for 4 days and nothing was coming out so I had to give baby formula in the mean time just so he wasn't so hungry by the midwife... Luckily this time on day 3 I'm producing milk .. Also yeah some women may just want to breast feed this is just what I put in my bag that I thought was useful to me
Deleteaww congratulations on the new arrival of baby no2...both ur boys r so gorg! n i love your posts u r an inspiration to women n moms to be xxx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new arrival. I was just wondering how you found breastfeeding and if yi jad any tips. I recently had a baby too and I am struggling to breastfeed as when she was born she was bottle fed. Now that I want to establish exclusive breastfeeding I feel she does not fill up she wants to always be on. I am combination feeding at the moment. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI would try as much skin to skin as possible as this helps boost milk supply. Then remember that each bottle of formula works to reduce your natural supply, as your body isn't getting the message to make the milk. Offer the breast as much as possible, as even if baby suckles and gets no milk, it will help your body produce more, so eventually your supply will increase.
DeleteAlso look up paced bottle feeding, as this may help with any nipple confusion issues.
There are some foods that may help with production too, such as oats, but skin to skin with baby is much mire effective.
Good luck!
Agree with above comment, as much skin to skin as possible and offer breast as much as possible, the more baby feeds, the more milk you will produce.
ReplyDeleteDepending how much formula you're giving you may need to cut down gradually- there's a really good link on the kellymom website about weaning from formula supplements.
Great idea to pace bottle feed, and if you find you're still struggling, you could invest in a supplemental nursing system (Google it) so you can offer formula top ups at the breast.
You could always consider donor breast milk for the top ups? Try human milk for human babies if you're interested.
Good luck!!
